Imagine how you live your life in 2010 and beyond with these technologies. No, these technologies will not end up the world; these are for the betterment of humanity. In short, it is meant to make your life a lot easier. Imagine if you live in an era where the only means of getting water into your kitchen is by fetching. Now, we appreciate less the technology of increasing energy head of water inside the tank because it’s a commonplace. But note that this technology is a breakthrough when it was first implemented. It is one of the life changing technologies that are constantly improving overtime. Electricity, communication, and transportation are few of the systems we can’t live without. New things are emerging as soon as 2010.
You read it right. It is not a wireless communication, it’s a wireless power. WiTricity Corpopration, the exclusive licensee of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for this technology, is going to deploy a product that deliver wireless electrical power to low voltage electrical devices like laptop and cellular phones. The system is based on resonant magnetic coupling to deliver electricity via magnetic field. WiTricity is expected to reach the market next year with a capability of charging electric vehicles and light bulbs. However, this pursuit of wireless delivery of electrical power in broad range stirred some fear on health issues.
The abovementioned technologies are discussed by panel of experts from Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) that could change the world. This is in connection of IEEE’s 125th anniversary of the Future Day on May 13, 2009.

Wireless power

Intelligent computing
Computers will now have the brain’s capability of sensation, perception, action, interaction and cognition. IBM is doing this research with a $4.9 million grant from Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). Imagine a computer that behaves like a human, will you buy it? The realization of this project is expected in the next five years.Biometrics
Mental telepathy is a science fiction of communicating through brains, but by 2012 this will become a reality. A group of researcher from Center for Neuroengineering has created a microchip to enable robot and human brain to communicate in two-ways without using any senses. This microchip will also allow brain-to-brain communication. The abovementioned technologies are discussed by panel of experts from Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) that could change the world. Re: Technologies that Could Change the World
this could lead to a more comfortable life but in the contrary hope it would not be as adverse to life
Re: Technologies that Could Change the World
I agree with KIng, and I also hope it would not an adverse to life.
In Wireless Power
I cannot imagine living in a place with electrically charge gravity field.
In Intelligent computing
Robots are now in labor force specially in precise manufacturing, if they can think like human, will they become managers?
In Biometrics
Brain to brain communication? Awkward.
Re: Technologies that Could Change the World
We may get a more easy and comfortable life. We dont even thought of it's impact of the climate. So we are in need of more and more energy, dont forget the sources are still traditional.
Re: Technologies that Could Change the World
i hope this technologies will be used for the better, not for the bad things.
